Walnut is often steamed to bleed the heartwood color into the sapwood. Walnut generally has a straight and open grain. It is 22% softer and 9% more stable than Northern red oak. Walnut makes a beautiful floor and is well suited for natural finishes. Walnut has traditionally been used for furniture, architectural woodwork, gunstocks, and cabinetry. |
