Good lumber begins in the forest.
Through responsible management Northern Michigan Hardwoods harvests only the mature trees to ensure the forest remains healthy and productive. The timber is then transported back to the mill and sawn into lumber by Northern Michigan Hardwoods accomplished sawyers. Once the timbers have been sawn, Northern Michigan Hardwoods carefully dries the lumber in their kilns to 7-10% moisture content.
